As the diaphragm contracts, upon an inhale, the belly fills allowing the ribs to expand which creates a vacuum between the ribs and the lungs, causing the lungs to expand and fill.

When the diaphragm relaxes, upon exhale, the belly and ribs return to normal position and lungs contract.


This movement of the diaphragm massages the lower body organs, initiating a fresh exchange of blood throughout the entire organ.
